This webinar will explain the social media platforms that are available including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube. It will explain the platforms’ individual reach, the audiences that they target, and clarify what platforms might be better for your organization/trail.
Our social media expert’s approach is to lean into authenticity, listening, responsiveness, and valuable/compelling content. While a responsible use of puns and humor is essential, it's even more essential in times of crisis to be present and responsive. We will also have two additional presenters who have a robust social media presence for their respective regional and national presence that will explain what platforms they use specifically and why.

Dani Tinker, Senior Director of Digital Communications, Meals on Wheels America

Dani has spent her career advocating for those without a voice – the people and places left behind – and telling the stories that captivate, educate and inspire people around those causes. For more than a decade, she has built passionate communities online at organizations like the Natural Resources Defense Council, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Student Conservation Association, and National Wildlife Federation. Now, Dani leads the digital strategy at Meals on Wheels America to instill hope, warm hearts, and inspire generosity from new and existing supporters. In her spare time, she can often be found hiking through the forest looking for salamanders and frogs.
Julie Smith, Executive Director, TRED Rome/Floyd
Rome, Georgia
Julie Smith is the Executive Director of TRED (Trails for Recreation and Economic Development) Rome Floyd, the only non-profit trail advocacy group in Northwest Georgia. Julie helped to found TRED in 2012 and served as board president until she stepped into her current role in 2020. Julie's past experiences include working in the media industry, higher education, and from 2007 to 2019 she and her husband owned and operated a community bicycle shop in Rome. TRED began when the county commission voted against a federal grant that would provide a critical connection in the Downtown Rome multi-use trail network. Citizens rallied and raised the needed matching grant funds saving the project and TRED was formed.to enhance, promote, and expand the 13-mile trail network to connect neighboring communities. TRED has built over 15-miles of mountain bike and hiking trails in Rome and Floyd County and has partnered with the city and county governments to fund and construct over 6 additional miles to the current urban trail system. Julie is grateful that she gets paid to walk, run, and bike on the trails.
Cecilia Aleman, Social Media and Website Manager, Student Conservation Association (SCA)

Cecilia Aleman is a Digital Media Producer specializing in nonprofit communications. As Social Media and Website Manager for the Student Conservation Association (SCA), she is responsible for creating digital content and leading the organization’s social media strategy on various channels including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Prior to joining SCA in 2019, Cecilia worked at The Water Research Foundation where she launched and grew the foundation’s social media presence. She has also produced content for small businesses and NGOs as a freelance copywriter. Cecilia received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mass Communications and Creative Advertising from Virginia Commonwealth University.
